Zoli brand ambassador Ross Straker claims silver medal at ICTSF World English Sporting
Ross Straker rates his silver medal at the ICTSF 5th World English Sporting as one of the greatest achievements of his shooting career.
The Zoli shooter from London, who shot 88ex100 on the green course and 90ex100 for a total of 178ex200, was edged out by American Derrick Mein in a tie-breaker at Dowth Hall, Co Meath in Ireland after the pair could not be separated at the end of an exciting seven-man super final. But Straker, who has various UK titles under his belt, looks back on his performance with immense pride.
“It was a fantastic shoot and brilliant to be involved in,” he said. “To go home with a silver medal in a tournament at this level is up there with the best things I’ve done as a shooter. It’s definitely good news for Zoli as well.”
Straker, who shoots a Z-Sport, has been a brand ambassador for the luxury Italian shotgun brand since 2016 and used its shotguns for more than a decade.
He said: “I’ve tried various other brands, but none have come close. I’ve been trying new cartridge combinations recently and it seems to be working well. I hope my result in Ireland keeps Zoli firmly on the map.”
Based in Kent, Straker has extensive experience shooting over a range of disciplines, with a specialty in sporting, and coaches at Noble Field Sports in Westerham, offering expert instruction at exclusive corporate events.
